Wheelchair Basketball

This half term we have been fortunate enough to be able to offer a wheelchair basketball club to the children. The club is held at Telford Park school and is run by Andy Flower a wheelchair basketball coach from Stoke Spitfires. The children get used to sitting in and controlling a sports wheelchair and then learn basic skills before being able to play the game. The children had their first session on Monday 21st September and it’s fair to say we were all impressed by how well the children did, already they were controlling their chair with ease as they caught the basketball before passing it to their team mates to shoot for the hoop. We can’t with to see how the children progress.

vs Redhill

Well done to the Year 3/4 Football Team that played their first match of the school year tonight. The team drew 2-2 against a very good Redhill Primary School Team. Both teams had good chances to win the game towards the end but were stopped by both goalkeepers pulling off some amazing saves. Great performance boys (Liam missing from the picture)

County Cup

Well done to the Year 5/6 Football Team that put in another fantastic performance tonight in the SSCFA County Cup. Unfortunately the team narrowly missed out on qualifying to the next round.

We are very excited that Stuart Dunn, the voice of Shrewsbury Town FC for  BBC Radio Shropshire and also the long-serving sports writer for the Shrewsbury Chronicle, will be visiting Grange Park every Monday morning for the next 6 weeks to work with our Year 6 children.

Our Year 6s will be encouraged to try their hand at football commentary while the interactive lessons will also focus on improving their writing skills, how to structure a story and headline writing.
