Well done to all the KS2 children that took part in the Grange Park Tag Rugby Intra School tournament this half term. The whole school have been learning how to play Tag Rugby in PE and last week saw the qualifiers for this weeks KS2 finals day. The qualifying tournament was held during class PE lessons and the winning team out of each class then played against the winning team from the other same age class in the finals.
The standard shown in the finals this week has been outstanding and the children gave their all. As a school we were also impressed with the sportsmanship shown by everyone that took part and the shaking of hands before and after the matches.
The winning teams came from classes:
Year 3 – Mrs Willett’s
Year 4 – Mrs Cadman’s
Year 5 – Mrs White’s
Year 6 – Miss Foster’s
Well done to our Year 3/4 football team that won 4-0 tonight against John Randall. Again the team played some fantastic football and fully deserved their win. This was the first time some of the children in this team had ever played in a competitive football match and they did an amazing job #TeamGP
Well done to our Year 6 Tag Rugby team that competed in the Telford & Wrekin Tag Rugby competition tonight. The team finished joint second in their qualifying group out of 5 teams. We then drew 6-6 in our knock out game, so unfortunately the game had to be decided on a coin toss which we lost. The team improved throughout the tournament and played so well as a team. Mr James and Mr Green are extremely proud of the effort and team spirit shown by the whole team tonight #TeamGP
Well done to our Year 3/4 Tag Rugby team that finished 4th out of 15 schools at the Telford & Wrekin Tag Rugby competition today. The team were absolutely amazing all afternoon, winning their league and then only just missing out on finishing 3rd. #TeamGP
As you may recall last year we applied for the Sainsburys Kitemark award which recognises all the PE and extra school sport that we do with children in Key stage 2. We achieved the bronze level award but had features that met the silver and gold award criteria, we set ourselves an action plan focusing in particular on taking even more children to sports events and looking at having more children helping to lead sports both in their own PE lessons and as a support to Miss Rance, Mr Green and Mr James. Therefore I am pleased to announce that Grange Park have now achieved the Gold level Kitemark award in recognition of the school sport we provide. Congratulations to everyone involved.
National Girls football week
National girls football week this year runs from 5-11 October and was developed from the success of previous Women’s Football Weeks which began in Further Education in 2012, and spread to Higher Education in 2014. The week is delivered in partnership with Independent Schools FA, English Schools FA, Association of Colleges Sport and British Universities and Colleges Sport. This year the programme was extended to include primary and secondary schools. As a result we decide to hold our very own girls football day on Friday 9th October for all the girls in key stage 2 and what a success the day was, some of the girls approached the sessions saying they couldn’t play football or were rubbish at it! It’s fair to say that by the end of the session the girls couldn’t stop talking about how much fun they’d had and how much they’d learnt about football, we even had a number of girls asking for more football at Grange Park, which is a fantastic result to what was a lovely day for all involved.
Well done to our Year 3/4 football team that played against St Patricks tonight. The game was very close in the first half but Grange carried on with their passing style of football and ended up winning the match 6-0. Another fantastic team performance. Well done boys.
Well done to our Grange Park Netballers who won both their games tonight 6 nil against Woodlands and 4-0 against Lilleshall. Miss Guess and Mrs Greenhill are very proud of the team, especially their attitude and wonderful team work! Well done Grange Park!
Well done to the Year 5/6 Football team that just missed out on qualifying for the finals of the ESFA Cup tonight. The team put in a fantastic team performance and all the games were end to end but Grange Park just couldn’t put the ball in the net. The performances are improving every week and it won’t be long before the results start to follow.
We would like to say thank you to ‘The Wrekin Housing Trust’ for sponsoring our new Year 5/6 sports kit. The kit was purchased from local sports business ‘Fortis’ and we think the kit looks absolutely amazing.
