Well done to our Year 4/5 girls football team that beat a very good Year 6 Randlay Primary School team tonight. The girls got off to a fantastic start and were 2-0 up before 5 minutes. The game was then end to and Grange Park were awarded 2 penalties but unfortunately didn’t manage to convert either. Shortly after the 2nd penalty miss we were 3-0 up. Randlay pulled a goal back just before half time after our goalkeeper pulled off a fantastic save but a Randlay player was there to tap in the rebound. The 2nd half continued the same with both teams playing really good football but again Grange Park scored early and continued to look the stronger team passing the ball around like Brazil. Randlay were then awarded a penalty for a high foot and the girl kicked the ball that hard it broke the net. We continued to dominate the play though and scored late on to finish off the score 5-2. The girls are going from strength to strength every match they play in and it is a pleasure to take them to games. Well done girls, keep up the hard work and practise.
Well done to the Year 4/5 Football Team that have now reached the semi-final stage of the Shropshire County Cup. The boys had a very tough group to get through and had to win their last match against a very good St Giles Primary School team that had previously been unbeaten. The team put in a fantastic performance and won 2-0. Well done boys #TeamGP
Today we took 26 girls to Telford Park School to take part in the Telford Park cluster football competition. Unfortunately no other schools could take part, so rather then cancelling the competition we offered to take 4 teams. The girls had a fantastic time and all the staff were impressed with the girls skill, determination and competiveness. No one would of believed it was Grange Park v Grange Park matches though because all the girls were so desperate to play well and win. The games were all closely fought but in the end it came down to Grange Park Red Team v Grange Park Blue Team in the final. The match was end to end with both teams looking like scoring early on but the Blue Team got the first goal and despite the match being closer than the score line suggests, the Blue team won the match 3-0 with F.Creen getting a fantastic hat trick.
Well done to all 26 girls, you made the school proud once again. Keep it up 🙂
Unfortunately our Year 4/5/6 football team narrowly missed out on reaching the quarter finals of the Telford Cup tonight on goal difference. The boys only lost one of their four matches, winning two and drawing their last match 0-0. This meant that the organisers had to go back through all the scores to see which team scored the most and sadly we scored one less goal than St Peters Bratton. The astro-turf pitch at Telford Langley had been double booked so the boys had to play indoor on a small pitch. Some of the boys struggled on the slippy surface to start with but it wasn’t long before they were back to their usual passing and moving style of football. The small pitch didn’t help the flow of the games though with goalkeepers shooting from end to end, which made the games not the most enjoyable to watch. The team gave their all again though and we will now look forward to going back to playing 7 a side football in the Telford Plate competition. Special mention to the two year 4 boys that played fantastic tonight especially as they were against some very big and intimidating year 6’s.
Apologies – I forgot to take a team picture tonight, so I have quickly made one up from previous team photos 🙂
