Futsal

Well done to our Year 4/5 girls football team that took part in Shropshire’s U10 girls Futsal competition tonight in Shrewsbury. The girls were placed in an extremely tough group but put in some fantastic performances and finished 2nd. A very good Newport team finished top and qualified to the semi final stage after beating us 3-0. Despite Grange Park having a few chances in the match, it is fair to say the better team won and our girls learnt lots from the match. Well done girls.

Penalty Heartache for Grange Park

Penalty Heartache for Grange Park

new kit

Well done the Year 3/4 football that reached the semi final stage of the Telford & Wrekin cup today. The boys played amazing all afternoon and topped their group to reach the knock out stage of the competition. The game was extremely close with Grange Park dominating the possession but our opponents looked dangerous playing the long ball on the break. Midway through the match Grange Park were awarded a penalty that was wonderful struck but unfortunately came off the cross and back into play. We had a few more chances but we just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net. The match then had to be decided by the dreaded penalties. All our penalties were perfectly placed in the corners but our opponents goalkeeper made a great save for our last penalty which meant we lost 3-2 on penalties. The boys did their new kit proud and couldn’t of given any more than they did. We are so pleased with what great sportsmanship the boys showed after defeat today. Well done boys, we have next season to look forward to now.

Performance of the Year

Performance of the Year

v Meadows 2

Our Year 4 girls football team have had some amazing wins/performances this season so it might seem strange to say todays 4-0 loss to Meadows Primary School Year 6 team was performance of the year but the girls played some fantastic football tonight. With our Year 4 girls cup final fast approaching we are trying to play teams that will challenge our girls. This was definitely going to be a tough challenge as Meadows beat our Year 4/5/6 girls team earlier in the year. Despite losing the match tonight, our girls were fantastic and we learnt more than we have in any other game this season. For long parts of the game today Grange Park had possession of the ball but found it hard to break through Meadows tough defence and goalkeeper in the final third. Meadows very good team fully deserved their win and hopefully we can play them again before our final in May. Well done girls #TeamGP

Year 5 Cluster Tournament

Year 5 Cluster Tournament

Well done to the 11 children that represented two Grange Park teams today at the Telford Park School cluster tournament. The standard on show from all teams was again fantastic. Both the Orange and Purple Grange Park teams played some amazing passing football throughout the whole afternoon. Both teams were unbeaten in all their matches so it came down to the final match between them. Purples took an early lead but by the half way point oranges were winning 2-1. Both teams had some great chances but it looked as though orange were going to win 2-1 before the purple team scored a last minute equaliser. This meant the tournament winners would be decided on goal difference. The total was then tallied up and oranges finished on +3 goals and the purples finished on +6 which meant the purples were announced as the overall winners. Well done to both teams, it couldn’t have been any closer #TeamGp

Cup Final

We have been sent the date for our Year 4 girls football team Cup Final.

The girls will be playing at The New Bucks Head Stadium, home of AFC Telford United on Thursday 5th May. The official kick off time hasn’t been decided yet but we will probably be looking at around 4pm.

We would obviously love as much support as possible for this event and show the girls how proud we are of them reaching the cup final. There is normally a small entry fee for spectators with the money going to support primary school football in Telford & Wrekin.

As soon as we have an official kick off time and entry price we will update everyone.

cup final 2

Well done to our amazing Year 4 girls football team that competed in the Telford & Wrekin football competition this afternoon. The girls were once again fantastic and won all five matches to now reach the Telford Cup Final that will played at the home of AFC Telford United, The New Bucks Head. The girls were in a very tough group but they came through without conceding a single goal winning 2-0, 5-0, 6-0 and 4-0. This in itself was a massive achievement but what happened next topped that. Grange Park were then drawn to play another unbeaten team St Peters Edgmond in the semi final. St Peters got off to a very good start scoring within a minute of the match. This took our girls by surprise as it was the first goal they had conceded all afternoon and we nearly conceded again shortly after but our goalkeeper pulled off a fantastic one v one save. The girls then gritted their teeth and put in arguably their best performance of the day to come back and win 3-1. They fully deserved their win today and now have the Telford Cup Final to look forward to in June. Todays competition was 5-a-side but the cup final will be 7-a-side which means the two girls that unfortunately missed out today (Lacey.W & Ebony.W) but have played most of the games this season for the team will also be able to play in the cup final. All the hard work the girls have put in this season with training and friendlies has really paid off and they fully deserve all the credit they will receive. Well done girls, you have done the school proud once again. #TeamGP

Semi Final 1

Tonight our boys competed in the semi final stage of the Shropshire Schools County Cup competition at the Shrewsbury Sports Village. The standard of all the teams that reach this stage of the competition is very high and the matches on the night were extremely close. Grange Park had to play four matches tonight and went undefeated for all four but unfortunately we couldn’t find the goals to win our games and drew all of them with scores: 1-1, 0-0, 1-1, 0-0. This meant that our boys narrowly missed out on reaching the final, finishing 2nd in their group. I’m sure anyone that watched these games would agree that Grange Park dominated all four games but just couldn’t quite find the golden touch in the final third. The players did fantastic to reach this stage of the competition and on another night could quite easily of been the team that reached the final. Lots of positives to take from tonight into next seasons County Cup and the rest of this season. Well done boys.

County Runners Up

Well done to the 7 Grange Park girls that represented Telford & Wrekin at the Shropshire County Games 2016 today at the Shrewsbury Sports Village. Our girls put in some fantastic performances throughout the morning and only narrowly missed out on winning, finishing 2nd to a very good Brown Clee School Team. The girls got off to a fantastic start in the relay races winning the 1st race and then finishing 2nd in the next two. This put our girls in a great position going into the field events. Our field events couldn’t have gone much better with our girls winning 4 out of the 5 available and still recording good scores on the event we didn’t win. We then went on to the final relay races of the day knowing a good finish in these events would mean the girls getting gold. The girls were so determined and gave their all but sadly we fell slightly short in these races finishing 4th in both. That meant the scores would be extremely close between ourselves and Brown Clee and unfortunately for us, Brown Clee were announced as the girls champions with our girls finishing second. Our girls were a little downhearted but again they showed great character to clap for the winning team. I cant be any prouder of these girls for all the hard work they have put in, not just for this event but for the run up to the Telford & Wrekin competition. 2nd place out of over 200 schools in Shropshire is a fantastic achievement and although the girls would of loved a medal, I’m sure they are proud of what they have achieved as a team. Well done girls.
