Year 3/4 Girls Football Match

Year 3/4 Girls Football Match

queenswood 2

Well done to our Year 2/3/4 girls football team that tonight took part in their second ever match and won 5-0. The girls played against Queenswood Primary School and they were very excited about playing at another school. The girls found it difficult at times tonight to get through the Queenswood wall of players but every time we did, we looked like scoring. The girls have progressed so much in such a short time and every training session and match they are improving. It’s great to see all the girls encouraging and helping each other throughout the game and playing with big smiles on their faces. Mr Thorpe was very impressed tonight and said how well they all played as a team. Well done girls, keep up the hard work #TeamGP

Well done to our Year 5/6 girls football team that tonight competed in the Shropshire ESFA finals. The girls played 3 matches tonight against the toughest opponents we have ever played. The standard of girls football in Shropshire is truly outstanding this year. The girls drew their first match 0-0 and it is fair to say our opponents were definitely the stronger team in this game but our girls dug deep and put in a fantastic defensive display and our goalkeeper was once again on top form to pull off some great saves. Our second game was a bit closer but again finished 0-0. This meant the girls had to win their last match to qualify to the final stage. With this in mind we went for a more attacking line up and were unfortunately caught on the counter attack and lost the game. Extremely proud of these girls again and the future is looking great for next years competition because we performed this well and got this far in the competition with only one year 6 girl in our team #TeamGP

KS1 Athletics Festival

Well done to our Year 1 athletics team that took part in the Telford & Wrekin festival this afternoon. The event was for KS1 children but as our Year 2’s were on a trip today we got to take a whole team of year 1’s. We all had a great time time taking part in the field events but the highlight of the afternoon had to be our Year 1 children winning their relay race against Year 1 & 2 children. All the children were an absolute pleasure to look after for the afternoon and the results were even more impressive considering we were a year younger than most of the other teams. Well done again #TeamGP

Well done to our KS2 Sportability team that competed in the Telford & Wrekin competition this morning. The team had to take part in lots of track and field events against 10 other schools and we achieved some great results. The team finished 4th overall, just missing out on getting a medal by a few points. Mr James and Mrs Kenny were extremely proud of the effort all our children put in throughout the whole morning. Well done #TeamGP

Well done to our Year 5/6 Indoor Athletics team that competed in the Telford & Wrekin competition this afternoon. Our team got some fantastic results in both the track and field events and our boys team actually won all 5 of their races. The team narrowly finished 2nd on the day and we will now wait to see if our scores were good enough to qualify for the school county finals. All their hard work in training has really paid off and we couldn’t be any prouder of them all. Well done again #TeamGP

Top of the League

Top of the League

5.6 redhill

Well done to our Year 5/6 football team that tonight won their league match against Redhill Primary School 3-2.

The boys played some beautiful football tonight and fully deserved their win. The game was poised at 1-1 for a long period of time and despite Grange Park dominating possession, we just couldn’t beat the Redhill goalkeeper that was having an outstanding game.

We eventually broke the second half deadlock with a great team goal and quickly followed that with another goal. All of our goals tonight were truly stunning. Redhill scored late on with a long distance free kick to get one back. Although we might have won by greater scorelines this season, this was by far one of our best performances against a strong team.

The boys passing style of football is great to watch and we are so proud of their team spirit and support for each other. It was also lovely to hear feedback from watching spectators to how well are boys had played.

The boys are now top of the league with 3 games left to play. Super proud again boys #TeamGP

3.4 John Fletcher

Well done to the year 3/4 football team that tonight played in a thrilling game against John Fletcher Primary School. The boys narrowly lost the match 4-3 but they played so well, especially in the second half.

John Fletcher had some very good players that play for academies outside of school and in the first half the ability of these players was showing with them scoring some fantastic individual goals. The Grange Park boys battled really hard to keep the score down to 3-1 at half time.

We came out to the second half like a team on fire and it wasn’t long before we scored to make the game 3-2. The game then really opened up and was end to end and despite Grange Park having 2 or 3 good chances, John Fletcher got their next goal to make it 4-2 with 10 minutes left. Our boys didn’t give up though and got the goal they deserved to take the game to 4-3 with 5 minutes left to play. Both teams had good chances to score again in the last 5 minutes but both defences and goalkeepers were outstanding.

We learnt more from tonight’s loss than we have from our two previous wins and we are looking forward to getting back on the training ground to work on a few things #TeamGP

ESFA FINAL

So proud of our Year 5/6 football team that tonight reached the final of the Shropshire ESFA tournament. This is the biggest school football competition in Shropshire. The boys qualified in great style the week before we broke up for half and we looked to continue that great form tonight. The boys got off to a bit of a slow start but managed to dig out a 1-0 win in their first match thanks to another great save from our goalkeeper. The boys then won their 2nd group game 5-0 to secure their place in the semi final. The boys will be the first to admit that despite winning their group games we hadn’t been playing to our usual high standard but that was about to change in the semi final with an outstanding team performance to win 1-0.

The final was against fellow Telford school Short Wood. The first half was end to end with both teams defending well but short wood took the lead with a thunderous close range shot. It wasn’t long before we equalised though with a brilliant team goal just before half time. The 2nd half was very different with Grange Park absolutely dominating possession and having 3 or 4 great chances to score but unfortunately we just couldn’t get the ball in the net. The game finished 1-1, so it went down to a dreaded penalty shootout. Unfortunately we lost the penalty shootout.

We are so so proud of the all the boys that throughout this tournament have played some outstanding football and fully deserved to reach the final and were very unlucky not to win.

The boys stats for this tournament stands as, Played 6, won 5, drew 1, lost 0, scored 12, conceded 1.

Well done boys #TeamGP
