National League Cup

National Finals

Well done to our Year 5/6 football team that today took part in the National League Cup at the Buck Heads stadium. The boys were drawn in an extremely tough group but won the group after winning all 3 of their games convincingly. The quarter final was a lot tighter when we were drawn against Redhill Primary School. The boys started off strong and were passing the ball around lovely and took an early 2-0 lead. The game then turned a bit scrappy and Redhill scored with a few minutes left and piled on the pressure but our defence held strong and saw out the 2-1 victory. That meant we had to play one of the tournament favourites Apley Wood in the semi finals. Again the boys got off to a flyer and were 3-0 up within 5 minutes. Apley scored a goal but our boys bounced back and scored almost straight away. The game finished 4-1 to Grange Park and it was by far our best performance of the day. Lawley were the other finalists and the game was end to end before Lawley finally broke the deadlock half way through the game with a great strike. Grange Park then went all out attack and must of hit the bar and post at least 5 times but just couldn’t get the ball in the net. The boys couldn’t have worked any harder than they did this morning and were so unlucky to lose in the final. Good luck to Lawley in the National finals. Well done again boys, another great #TeamGP performance
