Great Experience

Great Experience

Well done to our Year 5/6 Football team that today competed in the Wolves Community Tournament at the Molineux Stadium. This was a great experience for our boys and they got to do something many boys dream of. With most of our Year 6 football team in Arthog, this meant a lot of today’s team hadn’t played together this season but you would never have guessed after they put in some fantastic performances and results. The boys played 8 games and finished runners up in their group, finishing behind the eventual winners of the whole tournament. The boy’s behaviour and attitude was fantastic all day and they were a pleasure to take. Well done again boys, you’ve made #TeamGP proud.

Year 2 Tennis

Year 2 Tennis

Well done to our Year 2 Tennis Team that finished 3rd this morning at the Telford & Wrekin Festival. The team were brilliant all morning and showed massive improvement throughout the competition. We will be giving out leaflets this week offering a free tennis taster session at the Telford Tennis session to all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Hopefully we can get lots of #TeamGP to take advantage of this great offer.

So Proud

So Proud

Well done to our Year 4/5 girls football team that today played in the Shropshire County Cup Final at the Greenhous Stadium in Shrewsbury. Unfortunately, our girls were beaten by a very strong St Georges Shrewsbury team. Our girls never gave up though and fought to the last minute.

Two years ago nearly all of our team had hardly kicked a ball before and now they are the 2nd best team in Shropshire. That is a great achievement girls and we will keep on improving and bounce back again next year. Thank you to all the parents / staff that came to support the girls today, it made a real difference and the girls loved being cheered on.

The whole team were fantastic but special mention to Melanija and Kayleigh. Melanija was our Girl of the Game after pulling off more than 10 fantastic saves throughout the match and keeping the score down. Kayleigh gets a special mention because she was the only year 4 in our team today and after only being on the pitch for a minute she took a nasty knock which forced her off but Kayleigh was brave enough to dust herself off and get back on for the second half. So proud of every single one of the team today for their effort and never give up attitude.

Thank you to Mr Brown as well that has attended both our finals this week to take pictures for us.

What a night, what a performance, what a team

What a night, what a performance, what a team

Well done to our Year 5/6 football team that tonight won the Telford & Wrekin School cup final at the Buck Head Stadium. Many people had Grange Park down as the underdogs for this game as Apley have been so strong all season and won the cup in year 3/4 with this team but we knew if our boys played to the best of their ability we had a chance of an upset.

We came out of the blocks flying and controlled possession in the first half and could have taken the lead if it wasn’t for a great save from the Apley keeper. That being said just before half time it looked as though Apley had scored but from somewhere our keeper pulled off the save of the season and tipped the ball over the bar. Myself and the crowd were certain the ball was going in, I’m still not sure how Travis got to it.

The second half was a different story with Apley controlling possession but our defence and goalkeeper looked unbeatable. Towards the end of the second half you could see both teams had given their all and were looking tired. It must have been the most entertaining 0-0 draw in the Telford Cup Final history. This meant the boys had 10 minutes of extra time to play and if it was still a draw after that, it would go to a dreaded penalty shootout.

Extra time remained tight but a bit of magic on the edge of the box and an amazing through ball pass left Liam one on one with the keeper and Liam doesn’t waste opportunities like that. The keeper came rushing out but Liam remained calm to chip the ball up over him. It felt like the ball was in the air in slow motion but it finally dropped in the goal causing mass celebration from the players, coaches and fantastic support. We don’t’ normally name our goal scorers because it’s a team effort but that finish needed mentioning.

Apley knew they had to score to get anything from the game and the last 5 minutes consisted of them attacking attacking attacking but we had faith in our team that they could hold strong and they did. The final whistle went and our boys had made history by being the first Grange Park team to win the Telford & Wrekin cup in its 60-year history.

So proud of these boys, they fully deserved this win for all their hard work over the season.

Well done:

Cup Final Week

Cup Final Week

Cup final week is finally here !!!!! Good luck to both our teams that have already made history by being the first Grange Park teams to reach this stage of the competition. Whether our teams win or lose in these finals, they have done extremely well all season and have been an absolute pleasure to coach. Their hard work and ability on the field has been outstanding and they fully deserve to be in the finals. Good luck #TeamGP
Hopefully we can get another big #TeamGP crowd at the finals.
