Year 3/4 Girls Football

Year 3/4 Girls Football

What a performance from our Year 3/4 girls football team that tonight won 3-0 against a very good Meadows team. The girls dominated the first half but the Meadows keeper was on fire making at least 10 good saves. Meadows did catch us on the counter attack a few times but our defence was on fine form again and stopped them. The one time Meadows did get through in the first half our keeper was alert and came out to make a fantastic clearance. We finally got the breakthrough early in the 2nd half when our striker showed amazing determination to keep a ball in play that looked to be going out all day and then won a 50/50 challenge before smashing the ball in. We then went on to score a second shortly after and the third came half way through the 2nd half. Every match the girls are improving and becoming a really strong team. Lots to work on in training and hopefully it won’t be too long until our next training session #TeamGP

Year 5/6 Girls Football League

Year 5/6 Girls Football League

Well done to our Year 6 girls football team that tonight won their 2nd league match of the season 11-1 against joint top of the table John Fletcher School. The game was very tight for the first 5 minutes whilst our girls adjusted to narrow pitch and long grass but it wasn’t long before they got back to their usual style of pass and move play. Our opponents were very strong in attack but our defence was as solid as ever and every attack our opponents had quickly turned into a counter attack by our girls. What pleased us the most from today’s performance was how unselfish our girls really are, so many times our girls could of had a shot but instead they looked for a team mate that was in a better position and this resulted in great team goals. Well done again girls #TeamGP

Year 3/4 Girls Football

Year 3/4 Girls Football

Well done to our Year 3/4 girls football team that tonight played their first match of the season against John Fletcher. The girls were absolutely amazing and showed great teamwork and passing throughout the whole match. The John Fletcher keeper was probably the best goalkeeper we have ever played against and made 4 or 5 top saves in the first half to keep the score at 0-0. Our girls never gave up though and continued to dominate play but this time they were rewarded when their goalkeeper made yet another save but our striker was in the right place at the right time to poke the rebound in the corner. We then scored a brilliant counter attack goal where our player ran the whole length of the pitch and smashed the ball in at the far post. Our defence was solid throughout but John Fletcher did have a shot on goal towards the end of the match but our keeper made a great save with her knee to keep it at 2-0 to Grange Park. Well done again girls, hopefully we can get some training sessions in soon #TeamGP

Year 6 Girls League

Well done to our Year 6 girls football team that tonight won their first league game of the season 10-0 against Redhill. The girls have worked so hard over the last two and a half years and it showed today, especially in the 2nd half where they scored some amazing total football goals. The girls have 5 more fixtures to play in the year 6 league before the cup later on in the year. Well done again girls #TeamGP

Year 3/4 Football Match

Year 3/4 Football Match

Well done to our Year 3/4 football team that tonight played against John Fletcher School. This was the first time any of the boys had played for the school football team and they got off to a nervy start but by the end of the game they had improved massively, especially their passing. The highlights were the great team goal right at the end, the amazing tackling throughout the whole match and a fantastic celebration after the goal. Well done boys #TeamGP

Year 3/4 Friendly

Year 3/4 Friendly

Well done to our Year 3/4 football team that played tonight. Like yesterday this was the first time this group of players had played together and also the first time some of the children had ever played in a football match. Both teams were fully committed and there were a few mistimed tackles but the game was played in the right spirit and the boys all had fun. Hopefully it won’t be too long until we can start to use the field to get some team training sessions going. Well done again boys.

Football Friendly

Football Friendly

Well done to our Year 5/6 football team that tonight took on a strong Meadows Primary School team. This was the first time some of the boys had ever played for the school and it was certainly the first time this team of boys had all played together. The game was brilliant to watch and end to end throughout. The final score was 3-1 to our opponents but it could of easily been the other way round. The goalkeeping and defending from our boys was outstanding. Well done again boys

Year 5/6 County Cup

Year 5/6 County Cup

Great effort by our Year 5/6 football team tonight that competed in the Shropshire County Cup. The boys played 3 matches, winning 1, losing 1 and drawing the other. The boys dominated the first match but our opponents goalkeeper was on top form and pulled off 3 great saves. Then with the last kick of the game and our opponents first shot of the game they managed to sneak a long distance shot past us to win 1-0. The boys kept their heads up though and again dominated the next match to win. As the results had gone against us in the other games, this meant that we couldn’t qualify to the next stage. The last match was very close but our opponents were slightly stronger but our boys dug in deep and ground out a 0-0 draw. We only had 6 players tonight and in the last game you could really see the boys legs were tired but their determination got them the result they deserved. Well done boys, we are very proud of all you effort tonight.
