Grange Park Primary School has achieved the highest National Award for school sport.
We have achieved the Platinum School Games Mark award for commitment, engagement and delivery of competitive school sport in 2018/19 – 2019/20. The award is based on the PE and school sport that we offered children in Key Stage 2 over the past 5 years.
Thank you to all the children that have represented the school sports teams over the years and to the parents for their fantastic support. The children give their all at every event and whether we win or lose, their behaviour and attitude towards sport is amazing.
Well done to our Year 3/4 girls football team that were joint winners of the Champions League with Redhill Primary tonight. The game ended 2-2 and was end to end throughout. Both teams had great chances to win the match in the last 5 minutes. Special mention to our GK Millie that pulled off an outstanding save at the end of the match to keep the score 2-2.
We then went to the dreaded penalty shootout. After both teams had taken 6 penalties, the scores were still even. After such an exciting match, we felt it would be unfair for one girl to feel she had let her team down by missing her sudden death penalty, so we decided to share the trophy this year.
This is the first time our girls had played together for a while and despite being rusty at the start of the game, the girls couldn’t of worked any harder and we’ve learnt lots we can work on ready for next year.
Well done again girls
Well done to our Year 5/6 football team that qualified to the quarter finals of the Crossbar Cup today. It was a great achievement reaching this stage considering half our team are in Arthog this week and the extremely tough group we were drawn in. After we managed to qualify from the group of death with the results: GP 2 – 1 Pontsbury, GP 0 – 1 Old Park Primary, GP 3 – 1 Redhill Primary and GP 1 – 1 Newdale, we then narrowly lost 1-0 in the quarters to Oakmeadow with our opponents scoring with the last kick of the game.
We then played a friendly match against Donnington Wood which finished 0-0 with both teams goalkeepers pulling off some fantastic saves!
Our ‘Sports Achievements’ section is now live on our school website: http://www.grangeparkprimaryschool.co.uk/web/sports_achievements_1/411766
We are so lucky to have such amazing and dedicated children to represent the school teams. Its been great fun to look back at the success over the past 4 years.

Unfortunately some of the girls were not in school the day the photo was taken.
Amazing performance from our Year 3/4 boys football team at this morning’s Crossbar Cup. The boys unfortunately lost in the final on penalties after drawing 0-0 with Oakmeadow. Well done Oakmeadow and thank you Crossbar for inviting us to your event #TeamGP
