Well done to our Year 5/6 football team that tonight sailed through to the next stage of the County Shield after putting in three fantastic performances. The team got off to a flyer beating one of the favourites for the competition Coleham 3-0. We then won the next match against St John Baptist School 2-0 and then in the final game of our group, we won 3-0 against Longnor. It was lovely to hear comments from the parents and coaches of our opponents on how well the Grange Park team played. The passing and movement on show from Grange Park tonight was an absolute pleasure to watch. Keep up the good work and good luck in the next round #TeamGP

Semi Final 1

Tonight our boys competed in the semi final stage of the Shropshire Schools County Cup competition at the Shrewsbury Sports Village. The standard of all the teams that reach this stage of the competition is very high and the matches on the night were extremely close. Grange Park had to play four matches tonight and went undefeated for all four but unfortunately we couldn’t find the goals to win our games and drew all of them with scores: 1-1, 0-0, 1-1, 0-0. This meant that our boys narrowly missed out on reaching the final, finishing 2nd in their group. I’m sure anyone that watched these games would agree that Grange Park dominated all four games but just couldn’t quite find the golden touch in the final third. The players did fantastic to reach this stage of the competition and on another night could quite easily of been the team that reached the final. Lots of positives to take from tonight into next seasons County Cup and the rest of this season. Well done boys.

County Cup Quarter Final

Well done to our Year 3/4 football team that competed in the quarter final stage of the Shropshire County Cup tonight. The boys were up against some fantastic opposition and unfortunately didn’t qualify to the semi final stage. The boys effort couldn’t be questioned at all though with them all putting in 100% and coming off after each match knowing they had given their all. We got off to a great start winning the first match 1-0 and totally dominating the play but Will also had to pull off a world class save near the end of the match to cement the win. The next match was lot more testing against a very good passing St Giles team.  St Giles scored early on in the match but Grange Park pushed forward for an equaliser and looked to be getting back into the game before a very harsh penalty was awarded to St Giles, which they smashed into the corner giving Will no chance.  The third match then became a must win game if our boys were to get through to the next stage of the competition. Unfortunately we were up against another very good team, St Georges Shrewsbury. We lost the match 2-0 but the boys gave their all again and were just beaten by a better side on the night. This meant that no matter what our result in our last game we couldn’t qualify to the semi final stage. The last game was against St Georges, Telford and it was probably the best group game of the night with both teams having good chances to win the match. The match was end to end with both teams trying to get the winning goal but St Georges were the first team to break the dead lock scoring with only a minute left to win 1-0. We couldn’t be any prouder of the boys tonight and we’re so pleased with how the boys dealt with defeat and their great attitude throughout the whole competition. Special mention to Joe that played in a very defensive role all night, this isn’t the most glamorous position to play but the pitches at Shrewsbury are very narrow and long so someone has to stay deep. Joe played this role to perfection and stopped many attacking plays with his fantastic last man tackles.

Semi Final

Well done to the Year 4/5 Football Team that have now reached the semi-final stage of the Shropshire County Cup. The boys had a very tough group to get through and had to win their last match against a very good St Giles Primary School team that had previously been unbeaten. The team put in a fantastic performance and won 2-0. Well done boys #TeamGP
