Girls Football Week 2016

Girls Football Week 2016

IMG_0949

Well done to all the girls that took part in the Grange Park girls football week. We had a great week and it was fantastic to see so many girls playing football. We had 70 girls from years 2,3 and 4 sign up to take part and we held our very own Grange Park Champions League competiton. All the games were closely contested but in the end we had a clear winning team ………………… Real Madrid. Well done Pink team. We will be getting the trophy engraved soon.

Well done to the 5 girls that won the individual football prizes. It was so hard to pick 5 winners out of the 70 fantastic performances throughout the afternoon.

We will hopefully be running Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 girls football after school clubs again next half term.

Also please dont forget Randlay Colts Junior Football Club are currently looking for girls to join their new teams. For more information please contact Delwyn Delo on: info@randlaycoltsjfc.co.uk

Well done again girls

Performance of the Year

Performance of the Year

v Meadows 2

Our Year 4 girls football team have had some amazing wins/performances this season so it might seem strange to say todays 4-0 loss to Meadows Primary School Year 6 team was performance of the year but the girls played some fantastic football tonight. With our Year 4 girls cup final fast approaching we are trying to play teams that will challenge our girls. This was definitely going to be a tough challenge as Meadows beat our Year 4/5/6 girls team earlier in the year. Despite losing the match tonight, our girls were fantastic and we learnt more than we have in any other game this season. For long parts of the game today Grange Park had possession of the ball but found it hard to break through Meadows tough defence and goalkeeper in the final third. Meadows very good team fully deserved their win and hopefully we can play them again before our final in May. Well done girls #TeamGP

Cup Final

We have been sent the date for our Year 4 girls football team Cup Final.

The girls will be playing at The New Bucks Head Stadium, home of AFC Telford United on Thursday 5th May. The official kick off time hasn’t been decided yet but we will probably be looking at around 4pm.

We would obviously love as much support as possible for this event and show the girls how proud we are of them reaching the cup final. There is normally a small entry fee for spectators with the money going to support primary school football in Telford & Wrekin.

As soon as we have an official kick off time and entry price we will update everyone.

cup final 2

Well done to our amazing Year 4 girls football team that competed in the Telford & Wrekin football competition this afternoon. The girls were once again fantastic and won all five matches to now reach the Telford Cup Final that will played at the home of AFC Telford United, The New Bucks Head. The girls were in a very tough group but they came through without conceding a single goal winning 2-0, 5-0, 6-0 and 4-0. This in itself was a massive achievement but what happened next topped that. Grange Park were then drawn to play another unbeaten team St Peters Edgmond in the semi final. St Peters got off to a very good start scoring within a minute of the match. This took our girls by surprise as it was the first goal they had conceded all afternoon and we nearly conceded again shortly after but our goalkeeper pulled off a fantastic one v one save. The girls then gritted their teeth and put in arguably their best performance of the day to come back and win 3-1. They fully deserved their win today and now have the Telford Cup Final to look forward to in June. Todays competition was 5-a-side but the cup final will be 7-a-side which means the two girls that unfortunately missed out today (Lacey.W & Ebony.W) but have played most of the games this season for the team will also be able to play in the cup final. All the hard work the girls have put in this season with training and friendlies has really paid off and they fully deserve all the credit they will receive. Well done girls, you have done the school proud once again. #TeamGP

New Girls Kit

New Girls Kit

IMG_0297

Tonight our Year 4 girls football team debuted their new football kit in a friendly football match against Redhill Primary School. We would like to say a massive thank you to Miss Amy Lucas for funding the kit for our girls. Amy is a former Lord Silkin / Lakeside Academy PE teacher that very kindly offered to buy our girls a kit. After discussions with Amy and our kit supplier we decided we wanted to support a local charity and have their logo printed on the front. We all came to the decision that the ‘Georgia Williams Trust’ would be perfect as our kit sponsor. The ‘Georgia Williams Trust’ is a charity dedicated to providing a lasting long term legacy to an exceptional young lady. With the money raised, they celebrate Georgia’s life by enabling young people in the community to access adventure, outdoor activities and volunteering. We hope both Amy and the ‘Georgia Williams Trust’ are as pleased with how the kit looks as we are.

The girls first match in their new kit couldn’t have gone much better with the girls putting in another great team performance winning 7-0. Redhill unfortunately had a few players that couldn’t play this morning but rather than calling the match off we decided to let some of our girls play for them. Well done to those girls, it must of felt very strange to play against their own team mates. The game was a lot closer than the score line suggests with Redhill also having lots of attacking play but our fantastic defence and goalkeeper kept another clean sheet. The girls continue to get stronger and stronger with every performance and are quickly becoming a very good all-round team. Well done girls, keep up the hard work.

Great First Match

Great First Match

IMG_1822

Today was our first year 5/6 girls football match of the season, in fact this was the first time this team of girls had ever played together. We couldn’t of picked a tougher match for our first ever game playing against previous T&W girls football cup winners, Redhill Primary School. The game was end to end for the first 15 minutes but then Redhill scored two very good goals before half time. The girls came into half time up beat though knowing they had also had chances to score. Redhill continued to have most of the possession in the 2nd half but were getting frustrated by the fantastic defending by our girls. The game then went 3-0 to Redhill but our girls never gave up and continued to press with the Redhill goalkeeper making a great save half way through the second half. We finally got our break with a fantastic interception and near post finish from Niamh who had played the first half in goal. Grange Park continued to attack on the break and had a few more chances but the game finished 3-1 to Redhill. Another fantastic performance from our girl footballers at Grange Park.

Just Like Watching Brazil

Just Like Watching Brazil

v HLC

Well done to our Year 4 girls football team that won 12-2 tonight against a strong HLC team. The girls were absolutely fantastic again and their team work and passing style of football was a delight to watch. The score line suggests that the game was easier than it actually was. For the first 5 minutes the game remained 0-0 with both teams having good chances to score but both teams goalkeepers were making some fantastic saves. Grange Park grabbed the first goal with a fantastic play where every player on the team touched the ball before the goal. From then on the team looked unstoppable and fully deserved their win. Well done girls. Mr James

Great Performance

Great Performance

v Meadows

Well done to our Year 4/5 Girls Football Team that played Meadows Primary School Year 6 team tonight. The girls narrowly lost 1-0 but played amazing again. They are quickly turning into a fantastic team and getting better every game. Tonight’s match was end to end with both teams finding it hard to get clear cut chances because the defenders were playing so well. The long grass didn’t help our usual style of quick passing football but the girls dug deep and gave their all. As you can tell by their faces, they don’t mind winning or losing as long as they get to play. Well done girls. #ThisGirlCan #TeamGP #GirlsFootball
