Amazing News – Grange Park Primary School have been awarded the School Games Gold Award for the 2nd year running.
The award is based on the PE and school sport that we offer to children in Key Stage 2 for the academic year 2015/2016.
Thank you to all the children that have represented the school sports teams over the years and to the parents for their fantastic support. The children give their all at every event and whether we win or lose, their behaviour and attitude towards sport is amazing.
Well done #TeamGP
Well done to both our Year 5/6 football teams that tonight competed in the Telford & Wrekin football tournament. The standard was extremely high in Telford again and every match was closely contested. Grange Park team 2 have qualified for the next round of the cup after drawing one match and comfortably winning the other two games. Grange Park 1 narrowly missed out on getting through to the next stage of this cup finishing 3rd in their group with only the top two teams qualifying.
Grange Park 2 will find out who they will play in the knockout stage of the competition in a couple of weeks when all the qualifying groups are complete and Grange Park 1 will now take part in the Telford & Wrekin Plate competition.
We will try and arrange some training and friendly games before their next competition match.
Well done to the Year 3/4 football team that tonight won 6-3 in their first match of the season against Randlay Primary School. The game was extremely tight in the first half but Grange Park took their chances and came in 3-0 up. Randlay started the 2nd half on fire and scored two quick goals but our boys showed great bouncebackability and scored another goal straight from kick off. The second half then continued to be end to end with both teams having chances. Well done boys, especially the boys making their debuts for the Grange Park football team and even more so to the boys that were playing in their first ever competitive match. Thank you Randlay Primary School for the game, its always nice to play our neighbours #TeamGP
Well done to our Year 5/6 football team that tonight played a friendly match against a good Meadows Primary School team. The team lost 4-0 but put in another fantastic performance. Not only was this the first time some of the children had ever played for Grange Park, it was the first time they had ever played in a real competitive football match. Mr Thorpe commented on how proud of all the boys he was and that you would never of guessed this was their first match. Well done to our experienced football players that encouraged and helped their team mates along the way. Very proud of the team and we hope the children that played for the first ever time tonight enjoyed it.
Well done to our Year 5/6 football team that tonight sailed through to the next stage of the County Shield after putting in three fantastic performances. The team got off to a flyer beating one of the favourites for the competition Coleham 3-0. We then won the next match against St John Baptist School 2-0 and then in the final game of our group, we won 3-0 against Longnor. It was lovely to hear comments from the parents and coaches of our opponents on how well the Grange Park team played. The passing and movement on show from Grange Park tonight was an absolute pleasure to watch. Keep up the good work and good luck in the next round #TeamGP
We have set up a Grange Park Primary School football Fantasy League again this year on the website: https://fantasy.premierleague.com/
This league is open to all students and staff at Grange Park and also a few special guests that are associated with the school.
Children might need help registering and selecting their team from adults but please register using the child’s name so we know who the team belongs to.
Once they have registered and selected their team they will need to enter the Grange Park private league. Select join private league and enter the code: 3743988-827599
There will be a trophy at the end of the season for the winner and also prizes for the top 3 students. Each student is only allowed to enter 1 team but obviously brothers and sisters can enter a team each.
The points will start from this weekend’s fixtures so please make sure you enter your team in the league before Saturdays first premier league game.
Hopefully we will have lots enter again this year.
Well done to the Year 4/5 football team that tonight won the Meadows Cup. The boys played some absolutely stunning football tonight and fully deserved their win. They got off to a great start winning their first match 13-0 but we knew the next match would be tough playing against a team that had also won their first match by double figures. Grange Park got off to stunner though, scoring 2 goals in the first 5 minutes and winning the match 4-1, with our goalkeeper having to make an absolutely stunning save when we 2-1 up. This now meant if we won our last match we would be through to the cup final. The boys continued where they left off in the last match and won the last group game 7-0.
The cup final match unfortunately had to be cut short to a 12 minute match because of time issues and the game remained 0-0 for most of the first half. Just before half time though we scored another brilliant team goal. Grange Park then had a few chances to get a second but our opponents goalkeeper and defence were looking solid and they always looked dangerous on the break. We knew it would take something brilliant to get a second goal and we accomplished that with a fantastic team goal that included 9 passes before the ball was crossed in and slotted home in the corner.
Well done boys, that was an absolutely brilliant team performance. Perfect
Today we had a visit from the Shropshire Star newspaper to take a photograph of the 7 Grange Park girls that all got into the AFC Telford United U10 team. Luke Shelley from AFC Telford also featured in the picture said ‘Its a great achievement for these girls to go from never playing football a year ago, to winning the Telford Schools Cup this season, to now being selected to represent AFC Telford next year’. Well done again girls.
Next Tuesday 21st June Mr James and Mr Foley will be hosting a Euro 2016 Panini sticker swap shop at break time in base 1. On this day only children are allowed to bring in their swaps and sticker books. Children can then meet in base 1 at break time and swap their swaps with other children. All stickers and books must remain in bags and draws until break time and must be put away after break. If the event is successful and well attended we will run some more in the future.
Well done to our amazing Year 3/4 Tri Golf team that today won the Telford and Wrekin Tri Golf tournament. We competed against 15 other schools at the Telford Tennis Centre and the standard was very high. The team had put in a great effort at training last Friday, yesterday and even at home over the weekend. Grange Park will now represent Telford and Wrekin at the upcoming Shropshire Summer Games 2016. Special mention to the two children that stepped in last week to attend the training sessions and compete today because unfortuantely two of the original team couldn’t attend.
Well done #TeamGP another fantastic team performance
